Why is having a good English accent important? This is the question we ask all our students who take our elocution lessons.

Having a good English accent is important because:

"I am Russian. I live and work in London; my husband is English, and my children, who were born in the UK, have started mocking my Russian accent and correcting my pronunciation mistakes. It is frustrating. I work as a derivatives lawyer, and my colleagues do not always understand what I am saying. Having a good English accent is very important for my work."

"I work as a nutritionist in Chelsea, and all my clients come from the upper class. It would be good for my business to speak with a good English accent so that I sound more credible."

"I work as a psychotherapist on Harley Street. I want to get rid of my Essex accent and speak with Received Pronunciation (RP) so that I feel more confident with my clients."

From my personal experience, I can say that having a good English accent is very practical because my communication became easier and smoother. On top of that, it made me feel respected and heard; it opened doors and removed obstacles in both my personal and professional life.
